Opioid Management
About the Project
Addressing the opioid epidemic is a top priority for Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality stakeholders. This topic was selected as a regional quality improvement initiative, through a partnership with the Missouri Hospital Association was in the process of implementing the Kansas City Engaging Patients in Care Coordination (KC EPICC) project. The KC EPICC focuses on peer support and treatment referral to address opioid use disorders in the emergency department. To support the region in implementing and measuring the success of KC EPICC, the Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality established an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional team to support local hospitals and customize intervention to meet their needs and better predict success.
