Stacy L. Farr, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Department of Biomedical & Health Informatics and Director of Outcomes Research at Saint Luke’s Health System. As a trained health services researcher in health policy and public health, she brings over ten years of experience managing research and policy projects and conducting mixed methods program evaluations on a variety of health-related topics. Dr. Farr completed her BS from Nebraska Wesleyan University; MPH from the University of Kansas School of Medicine; and PhD from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Health Services Research & Policy.

Prior to joining UMKC, Dr. Farr was at IMPAQ International, where she was Project Director for the Graduate Nurse Education (GNE) Demonstration Evaluation and played a key role on a number of federal research contracts evaluating and enhancing public programs and policies. Dr. Farr was a Service Fellow at the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ), where she oversaw the National Evaluation of the CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grants and worked on special analyses of the National Healthcare Quality & Disparities Reports. Prior to that, she taught and conducted research at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she was an AHRQ National Research Service Award (NRSA) recipient. Prior to Hopkins, Dr. Farr was at the University of Kansas, where she worked on Alzheimer’s disease, exercise, and caregiving research and was a clinical psychometrician in an Alzheimer’s disease and memory clinic.

Dr. Farr has presented and published in a variety of national venues, including the peer-reviewed journals Medical Care and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. She also participates on various local and national advisory boards focused on bringing an evidence-based perspective in health services research, health policy, and public health.

Her teaching, research, and policy interests include: quality improvement, quality measurement, and public reporting; patient safety and outcomes research; mental health and chronic health conditions; and caregiving burden. She also brings expertise in mixed methods research design; qualitative research; education and outreach; technical assistance; and policy implementation.
